Education

I currently attend Brock University and will be entering my 4th and final year in September. My two majors are child and youth studies and psychology. I have also had some training in some university education courses. I have achieved over 80% in both my years of study at Brock university and regard academics as very important. I have good work habits and high motivation to strive towards my goals.

Experience

I have aided in a grade 3/4 classroom helping the children with their homework and walking around the class to supervise their working habits. I considered this a great learning opportunity for both the students and I. I have also babysat five different children and aided them with their homework as well. The ages were 4,6,8,9 and 10. I want to be a tutor because I believe it will help my strive towards my goal of being an effective teacher. It will teach me patience and understanding with regard to students learning levels. Some relevant classes I have taken are child and youth studies, developmental psychology (topics include intelligence and learning), introduction to education, abnormal psychology (topics included ADD, learning disabilities,) introduction to sociology and child and youth within society. I have done alot of volunteer work including terry fox runs, racing against drugs for grade 4 students, winter festival of lights kids shows, pilgrimage (raise money for children in haiti), brock's italian day etc.

I love all types of movies, books and music. I enjoy sports as well, especially soccer and hockey. I love going outside, and enjoying life. I am an easygoing individual who is not afraid to inforce rules. I attempt to take the time to allow the child to trust me before jumping into anything, because i believe this helps to build the relationship and pave the way for academic excellence.
